Associate of Science in Business Management


Changes in the economy and the aging labor force impact local, national, and global organizations, the impetus is on internal advancement to capitalize on employees’ existing skills and knowledge. The Business Management program, offered online at Southern University at Shreveport, will prepare individuals to apply critical analysis in decision-making affecting the fiscal and economic value of an organization, innovate and integrate appropriate technology, and become leaders at every level of the organization.


Admission Requirements

Freshmen:
High School graduate with no college experience
  • Board of Regents' Core: 19 units (list attached)
  • Minimum overall high school GPA: 2.0 (weighted average on 4.0 scale)
  • Minimum ACT sub score: English > 18 or Math > 19*or
  • Minimum SAT sub score: Critical Reading > 450 or Math > 460-470
*The student cannot need more than one development/remedial course

And ONE of the following
  • GPA on the high school Core: 2.0 (weighted average on 4.0 scale)

Or

  • ACT Composite: 20
  • Complete an electronic Attestation Form attesting to high school graduation
  • Computer with internet access
*NOTE: Graduates from Louisiana high schools: Transcript will be requested from Louisiana Department of Education on behalf of student by our staff. All other state high school graduates must provide an official high school transcript.
Home Schooled:
  • ACT Composite: 23 or equivalent SAT 1060 (Critical Reading and Math scores combined)
  • Home school certificate from State Department of Education
  • Computer with internet access
Adult Learner < 25:
no college/post-secondary experience
  • Meet SUBR freshmen admissions standards in place at time of graduation from high school
  • Complete an electronic Attestation Form attesting to high school graduation
  • Computer with internet access
Adult Learner > 25:
no college/post-secondary experience
  • Possess a General Education Development (GED) certificate
  • Complete an electronic Attestation Form attesting to high school graduation
  • Computer with internet access
Transfer:
  • 18 college credit hours including college-level math and college-level English w/ grade of C or higher
  • Cumulative GPA: 2.0 (4.0 scale)
  • Provide all official college/post-secondary transcripts prior to registering
  • Credits submitted for transfer evaluation must be from a regionally accredited institution recognized by the U. S. Department of Education
*Note: All credits earned will be evaluated.

  • The final grade must be a C or higher

·         Providing developmental education designed to prepare individuals for successful completion of occupational-technical curricula or university parallel college transfer curricula.

·         Conducting continuing education programs carefully designed to meet the lifelong learning needs of the communities served by the University; Continuing education courses are non-credit or for-credit. Non-credit courses can be taken for occupational upgrade, personal satisfaction and enhancement. Credit courses can be used for transfer credit, an associate degree or certificate, occupational upgrade or career change.

·         Operating comprehensive student development services such as counseling and advising designed to facilitate educational, vocational, social and personal growth.

·         Conducting research of the type appropriate to the Institution, especially the development of new and/or enhanced educational programs and offerings based on community needs.

·         Providing specialized community service programs that are designed to improve the quality of life and meet identified cultural and educational needs within the Institution's service area.
